Anemones

(Question)

Would it be safe to transplant anemones now (week of October 29). They are flowering right now.

(Answer)

Thank you for contacting the Toronto Master Gardeners with your inquiry regarding your anemones.

Typically you can plant/ transplant perennials in the fall as long as they have 3-4 weeks of growing time to establish new roots. For fall flowering anemones spring planting/transplantng is recommended as well as applying a couple of inches of mulch during the plant’s first winter.
