Annuals for Hot Dry Locations

(Question)

An annual, less than 2 feet, for hot, dry, windy conditions.

Prefer a native north american plant, Canada, USA, or Mexico,
but, South America would be OK, too.

(Answer)

A good place for suggestions for annuals is the Toronto Master Gardeners own gardening guide.  Look under the column ‘Annuals for dry, hot conditions’ and you will find several North American native plants, such as American marigold, Indian blanket flower, Annual phlox, American Basket-flower and California poppy.
