I would like to find a good composting bin in Toronto. Since the city no longer gives free ones, can you recommend the best place to get one to inspire me to make good soil?
Thank you for your question for Toronto Master Gardeners.
Composting is such a great way to keep nutrients in the garden and out of the landfill. There are so many options to choose from, mostly dependent on the size of your property. As for recommending one type of composter, we are volunteers and not authorized to suggest any commercial products but almost every Canadian hardware outlet sells them. You can check these online.
Our Ontario Government has posted a Factsheet on Composting on the OMAFRA (Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs) website. http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/engineer/facts/05-023.htm
I hope that this information helps you. There are also many books, from simple to complex, on this topic in the bookstores and libraries.
