Mysterious climbing vine

(Question)

I have just moved into my new house and cannot identify a large old vine an my fence in the backyard. Similar to climbing hydranga but blooms are very different, actually hardly exist, very tiny greenish white. Blooming now. Attached to stem at same place as leaf, like grapes. Bees have been visiting. House is in Upper Beaches area. Vine faces north. Will include photos. Many thanks.

Thank you for contacting the Toronto Master Gardeners with your question.

The vine in your photo is either the American Bittersweet, Celastrus scandens or possibly its Asiatic relative, C. orbiculatus (Oriental bittersweet). Please refer to link below for details on growing habit and other details.
