When is the best time to put manure on my garden in the Fall. Should I wait for frost?
A word of caution when it comes to manure. Fresh animal manure can carry disease and therefore it is not advisable to use on fruit or vegetable gardens. On the other hand, bags of composted manure available at garden stores, nurseries and building centres are treated thus destroying any harmful organisms. The best time to put manure on the garden in the Fall would be before the ground freezes so that it can be worked into the soil and nutrients can penetrate the ground.
