I planted a three foot blue spruce last fall. After being completely buried in snow all winter it has turned green with the exception of the new growth. Is there anything I can do to fix this ? Thank you
There are many factors that can influence the colour of a blue spruce from cultivar to environmental growing conditions. Having been buried in snow all winter could definitely have an effect on the blue colour especially if that snow was laden with pollutants such as road salt. The addition of an acidic fertilizer can help as would adequate watering and exposure. Also, spruce colour tends to intensify as the tree matures.
