I have a climbing Canadian rose with four nipped spent flower stems at each end of its two main stalks which I want to train onto my back brick wall in the next year or so.
Some red shoots are now coming out near the tops as well. Do I just let the red shoots continue the growth of the main branches or do I need to nip back the top flower stems to the end of the branch as well?
Your climbing rose will be a lovely addition to your back brick wall. The new red growth near the top will likely form buds and flower. So probably best to leave them so you can enjoy this next floral display. There are a few articles on climbing roses on our website, like this one: Cutting Back Climbing Roses in Early Summer. that I believe you will find useful.
Best of luck with training your Canadian climbing rose!
