English Ivy

(Question)

I have an English Ivy in one of those plastic hanging baskets. Will it survive the Toronto Winter here if I didn’t take it indoors?

(Answer)

According to University of Illinois Extension services, English ivy (Hedera helix) is hardy to USDA Zone 5  (Canadian Zone 6) which Toronto falls into but potted plants with roots more exposed to cold may not be as hardy and should probably be brought inside for the winter.
