(Question)
Can seeds be harvested after a frost? How “ripe” should the seeds be?
(Answer)
It is impossible to say that all seeds harvested after frost will not be viable, but frost will tend to have a significant impact on the viability of seeds. On occasion Ontario may experience cool growing conditions, resulting in slow plant development and delayed seeding. When early fall frosts impact immature plants/crops, seed quality can be drastically impaired.
