Hello, thank you for writing, and hopefully we can  help with your search for an arborist.

There is an Ontario Chapter of The International Society of Arboriculture. The ISA Certification Board requires a candidate to have a minimum of three years of full-time experience in arboriculture. Acceptable experience includes the practical use of knowledge involved in pruning, fertilization, installation and establishment, diagnosis and treatment of tree problems, cabling and bracing, climbing, or other services that directly relate to arboriculture.

So your query re disease diagnosis, a certified arborist recognized under the qualifications of the Certified Arborist ISA mandate would be your best consultant

Regarding a referral: while Toronto Master Gardeners does not provide endorsements of commercial enterprises, we can suggest that you contact Landscape Ontario.

On their site banner, there’s a “Find Your Professional” search option. Half-way down the various options you will see “Arborists/ Tree Care”. Then enter your “Location” street name, and “Search”. You will usually be given numerous options convenient to you.

We wish you well on identifying the source cause(s) of the damage/ disease to your tree, and determining the best solutions possible.
