Identification of young tree

We have a young tree that we’d like to identify. We’ve had it for about 3 years and it is growing rapidly. We’d like to know what kind of tree it is in order to know best where to plant it. We live in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada.
Would you please see the image attached and if you are able to identify the tree for us?

We responded to you a couple of weeks ago (“Tree identification requested please”). Hope you got our answer.  It is not possible for us to identify such a small sapling; there are many trees/shrubs with similar leaves/structures. The website we referred you to, Ontario Trees & Shrubs, contains a lot of helpful information to assist in plant identification.

Also in our earlier response, we provided you with links that might assist you in determining if the plant belongs to the birch or alder family. Another suggestion is for you to take the plant to a different nursery than you initially approached, to see if staff can identify it.  If you can provide some information about where you obtained the plant, that might help in the identification.
