Japanese maple

(Question)

Is it possible to graft Japanese maple on another maple root stock to increase hardiness and cold tolerance?
Thanks

(Answer)

Most commercially produced Japanese Maples are grafted onto a hardier root stock so the answer to your questions is a ‘yes’.

If you google ‘Japanese Maple Grafting’, there are many good resources available to show you how to go about doing this.

I’m attaching a link below to a Toronto Master Gardeners Growing Guide for you to read about Japanese Maples and their care.
