When can I move my echinacea from ground level to a roof top garden?
Echinacea can be moved in the spring or the fall. In the spring, you can move echinacea as soon as you see healthy green shoots emerging. If moving in the fall, give the plant 6-8 weeks before the first expected hard frost to get established. (Average first frost date in Toronto is October 6.) One note of caution, echinacea often don’t survive division so it’s advisable to always move the entire clump.
