Painted tongue

(Question)

Would you be kind enough, please, to identify this flower (photo attached) that I saw at Edwards Gardens in July? Thanks very much.

The flower may be a variety of Salpiglossis sinuata, also known as Painted Tongue..  It is an annual which can be grown from seed – in which case it is best started under glass in late March and planted out after all danger of frost has past.
