I visited Allan Gardens in Toronto recently and took this picture of a very beautiful flower but failed to find it’s identity. Is there any chance you could help identify this flower? I’ve attached the photo. Thanks.
This is the fabulous Osteospermum, African Daisy or Cape Daisy. Osteospermum are of the Asteraceae family, like Shasta daisies and Zinnias. There are many varieties of these daisies, some with the typical daisy petal, but some varieties, like this one, are known as ‘Spooned Osteospermum’. This one is a cultivar called ‘Spider White’, and it was truly a showstopper at Allan Gardens this spring.
