Can I pot up daffodil bulbs that I did not get into the ground before ground freeze-up?
Potting up bulbs after the ground is frozen is a good alternative to having them in the ground over the winter. However, store the pot in a cool garage or outdoors with mulch/protection–you do not want the pot to freeze. Only the first couple inches of the ground soil will freeze during the winter; bulbs are usually planted deeper and are protected from freezing. Once the weather starts warming up, the pot can be brought outdoors without the mulch/protection and the bulbs should bloom.
