I am trying to identify a perennial (photos attached).
The flowers are deep purple in color and appear each spring.
The plant is not very tall, about 10 – 12” and grows in a mound.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
This is an easy care plant known as rock cress or aubretia (Aubrieta spp.). As you can tell from the name, it is a popular plant for rock gardens in addition to being used at the front of the border or along pathways. Rock cress can adapt to most soil types and to light conditions from full sun to partial shade (but performs better in full sun). Trim it lightly after flowering to help it keep it’s attractive mounded shape.
