The purple flower definitely looks like an iris but the variety is impossible to determine from photo. You may wish to contact either the Ontario Iris Society or the Canadian Iris Society if you wish to determine the exact variety of your plant. Both Societies have websites.
The other plant looks like a small shrub of some kind that has variegated leaves. It very much resembles Oriental Limelight mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris ‘Janlim’). A word of caution though – this plant spreads easily by taking root in any bare soil. Thus it is considered invasive. However, it can be grown successfully in a large container.
