rabbit dirt

(Question)

We have rabbits from time to time, and they eat away at plants, but this year after a long winter we have so much rabbit dirt in our flower beds. Is this harmful to soil and how can we avoid this ?

(Answer)

As winter recedes we often have a few surprises in our gardens, but not to worry they are a natural fertilizer, just mix in with the top couple of inches of your soil ,or put more compost and then mulch on top.

Here’s hoping your rabbits will not cause too much of a problem for your plants in the months ahead ,but it may be prudent to protect your most prized specimens with a sturdy barrier (such as chicken wire cages) at least for the spring and early summer.
