Rose bush: Pope John Paul II

I’m working on a memory rose garden, for my sister, which includes some of my father’s roses, and I have space for another plant. Could you please tell me if this rose is for sale in Toronto?  Would it be good to grow in our region?

Thank you.

Thank you for writing about this gorgeous rose, and your project!  There’s a bit of history to this tea rose, which was hybridized in 2006, and below is a link.  I’ve added an image for all readers to feast your eyes, and imagine its renowned heavenly citrus fragrance!

The hardiness zone for the so-called PJP2 is 7b… or greater. Great if you have a solarium, or a greenhouse — but you want this rose bush to part of your in-ground garden.

Plan B: you mentioned that your local Oakville nursery gave you the names of several excellent white varieties of roses that are robust and fragrant, and hardy in the Toronto region. Also, below, a link to Landscape Ontario.

We wish you all the very best with your wonderful memorial.
