Can Spirea be planted in a new flower bed on the northeast side of our home? We get morning and evening sun.
Spireas are small-to-medium sized deciduous shrubs that produce cascades of flowers, usually white or pink. They’re among the easiest flowering shrubs to grow, generally blooming in late spring to midsummer. If you choose the popular spring-blooming bridal wreath spirea, you can plant it in partial sun/shade. The amount of direct sunlight on your north-east bed is important – are there any buildings or trees competing for the sunlight? These factors may determine which spirea is best for that particular location.
It is best to plant your spirea in the spring or fall. All spirea prefer moist, and well-drained soil.
Have fun with designing and planting your new flower bed, and we hope this helps!
