Vines

(Question)

Can you suggest a vine appropriate to grow on a brick chimney without any special support? I live in the Annapolis valley in western Nova Scotia. Thanks!

(Answer)

Thank you for contacting Toronto Master Gardeners.

When choosing a plant it is important to take into account the soil, light, moisture and drainage  of a site. It is difficult to recommend plants without knowing what the restrictions of this location are.

I am including a link to Landscape Ontario and to another question in our database which list many different vines and their requirements. I am also including a link to Atlantic Master Gardeners as they are more familiar with the growing conditions in Nova Scotia.

Good luck, I hope this gives you a starting point.
