Wisteria-Mysterious Panicles

(Question)

My young plant has a large growth on panicles
which are light green. Is this normal, as I
have never seen this before. It is in full
sun and average soil, but we have received
abundant rain this summer. I live in
Arkansas.
Thanks

It sounds like your wisteria may have a gall or canker. Galls and cankers are unusual formations, either swollen knots or sunken areas that may weep sap – they can be cut out of branches, but if the crown of the plant is affected, there’s no treatment.
