Yellow perennials

(Question)

I have been searching for a yellow flower perennial that stands at about 24-30 inches tall, preferably a spring or early summer bloomer, to fill a specific spot in our garden.
Unfortunately all found so far appear to be invasive.
Any suggestion ?
Thanks.
Richard

Thanks for contacting Toronto Master Gardeners.  You haven’t mentioned your growing conditions but there are yellow perennials that will grow in sun, partial shade and shade.

Full Sun

Paeonia ‘Claire de Lune’ (Peony)

Paeonia ‘Bartzella’ (Itoh peony)

Hemerocallis ‘Justin June’ (Day lily)

Hemerocallis ‘Butter Lemon’ (Day lily)

Hemerocallis ‘Sunday gloves’ (Day lily)

Rudbeckia hirta (Native black-eyed Susan)

Anthemis tinctoria (Golden Marguerite)

Sun to Partial Shade

Iris germanica ‘Absolute Star’ (Bearded Iris)

Iris germanica ‘Again and Again’ (Bearded Iris)

Shade

Disporum flavens (Yellow Fairy bells)

Uvularia grandiflora (Large Bellwort – Native plant) Note: This plant might only reach two feet but it is lovely

Some of these selections are difficult to find at local garden centres but you may find them online.

Good luck with your search.
