July 21. The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) has pointed out an increase in the appearance of white mould on the bark of deciduous trees, especially on maple and beech. Rather than a cause for alarm, OMAFRA says this is likely to be lichen, which is not just harmless, but also indicates an improvement in our air quality.
To see what the lichen growth looks like, view the OMAFRA announcement here.
