Evergreen for privacy hedges. Need at least 10ft height.

(Question)

Hi. It looks like we can not leave comments on your Youtube videos. What cedar is in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DcarUHwdcg&t=349s

I am looking for an evergreen that I can use as a privacy hedge. Ideally something that does not go past 15 ft or one that we can trim. We are in the Lake Arrowhead, California area. We have mild summers about 70-80 F and winter with snow that does not go past 20-30 f.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for contacting Toronto Master Gardeners. The tree in the video is Thuga occidentalisIt is native to eastern Canada and the north, northeastern, and eastern United States. It grows predominantly in cooler climates with hardiness zones from 2 to 7.   It is possible to keep it pruned at the height you desire.  There are also several cultivars of Thuga that can be used as a privacy hedge.  For help in selecting a Thuga that is appropriate for your area, consider contacting the California Master Gardeners.
