ID A Flowering Shrub- azalea

(Question)

My Toronto (upper Beach) neighbour bought this two years ago but cannot remember what it is. It is in full sun and not in particularly good soil. No fragrance. Very showy this year so far. Has been blooming for about 2 weeks.

Thank you for contacting the Toronto Master Gardeners with your plant identification question.

The details are a bit hard to make out in the photo, but from what I make out of it , it can see looks most like a “Helen Curtis” azalea , but it could be possibly another dwarf white azalea cultivar.

I have discounted  Deutzia varieties, a Mochorange ‘ dwarf snow ‘ because they are fragrant and probably some differences in leaf and flower structures.

I hope that helps.
