Myrtle Spurge availability

(Question)

Hello
I’m trying to get some myrtle spurge for my front garden but am not having any luck. Do you know of any garden centres that would likely have it some for sale which I could contact? A lot of homes in my East York neighbourhood have some in their gardens but nobody is ever outside when I pass so I’m unable to ask where they bought it.

Thank you

Thank you for contacting the Toronto Master Gardeners.

Donkey tail spurge (Euphorbia myrsinites) is an attractive plant that is sometimes available at various garden centres. However,  during this Covid-19 situation, it’s difficult to know which garden centres are open and which might have the plant for sale. Perhaps, since you have noticed it growing in your East York neighbourhood, you might be able to ask for a cutting when an owner might be in his/her garden. My experience with the plant is that it can become quite prolific where it’s happily growing. And most gardeners would be pleased to share some with an interested gardener.

We hope that you will be able to acquire some donkey tail spurge soon–it may be an opportunity for you to get to know a neighbour and share some knowledge along with some plants.
