I was wanting to plant random trees around the city. Can I do that? Where do I find tree seeds? How can I tell which trees are safe for the environment?
Thanks for contacting Toronto Master Gardeners. Glad to hear you want to work to increase the number of trees in Toronto. There are so many benefits of growing trees. May I suggest that rather than undertaking this activity on your own you join Tree Planting & Stewardship Events – City of Toronto, LEAF, or North American Native Plant Society. These initiatives are all working to reforest the city with native trees. You will learn how to plant a tree and gain information about native trees, shrubs and invasive species.
