Thank you for contacting the Toronto Master Gardeners with your inquiry regarding Plumeria.

The Toronto Master Gardeners aim is to advise clients on all things horticultural — except pointing our clients in the direction of specific retailers.

Plumeria is a beautiful tropical flowering plant that comes in a variety of different colors and can be kept indoors or outdoors if the conditions are right. Their cuttings root in roughly six to eight weeks if potted in the right medium and kept under suitable conditions. Cuttings should be planted in a fast draining medium, such as sand and in a pot with multiple drainage holes to prevent excess moisture buildup.

Make sure to place the cutting with its bottom one-third beneath the potting medium’s surface, and remove all but two pairs of leaves, if leaves are present from the tip of the cutting to prevent moisture loss. The newly planted cuttings require a sheltered, humid location under light shade.

Make sure to mist the plumeria cuttings daily using water from a spray bottle, and moisten the potting medium when it feels dry 1 inch below its surface.
