Thank you for contacting the Toronto Master Gardeners.

Wallflowers ( Erysimum sp.) can be annuals, biennials or perennials depending on the species. Perennial wallflowers are hardy to zone 6 (Toronto’s hardiness zone is a 6a) . These plants prefer to grow in a location where they receive  full sun (6hours), in Well-drained, dry to medium soils .

Some perennials which you might like to consider are: Erysimum ‘Bredon’ : this plant prodices yellow flowers which appear from spring to early summer E. ‘Butterscotch’ : orang-yellow flowers, E. ‘Constant Cheer’; orange-red flowers that age to purple.

Landscape Ontario also listed Erysimum linifolium ‘Erysystible’ as one of their new perennials for 2020. According to their website, this is the first ever zone 5 hardy perennial.

If you are looking for annuals then  Landscape Ontario lists PreciousTM Bronze and PreciousTM Gold wallflower as a new annual. ” Both offer a compacthabit and will grow 20-30 cm (8-12 in.) tall with a spread of 15-20 cm (6-8 in.). PreciousTM Bronze has fragrant orange- yellow blooms that sit atop rich olive green foliage. PreciousTM Gold has fragrant golden yellow blooms. Both prefer full sun.”
