creeping speedwell – veronica “waterperry blue”

(Question)

Hi
I just bought creeping speedwell – veronica “waterperry blue”. My question, is it the same as veronica liwanensis or different? thank you so much.

(Answer)

Veronica liwanensis is slightly different from Veronica surculosa ‘Waterperry Blue’. Both are described as being good groundcovers, tolerating light foot traffic, growing in sun or partial shade and are the same height (1-2″) but V. liwanensis spreads more easily, doesn’t like clay soil and prefers dry soil. The flower colours are also different and V. liwanensis is slightly more hardy, although both species are hardy in Toronto.

This is what the grower, Heritage Perennials, says about their differences and similarities.
