Emerald cedars*

(Question)

I wrapped my trees last winter with orange snow fencing to protect them from the deer. When I unwrapped them this spring they all appear to be dying. Will they recover?

(Answer)

This is a very difficult question for me to answer as there could be many variables to this situation such as: were these cedars recently planted? Emerald cedars like moist, well draining soil, and a good amount of sunlight. Evergreens can be susceptible to winter damage (drying out, wind, ice, salt), and will brown and lose leaves.
