Propagating Hydrangea

(Question)

How do you propagate a ‘Pinky Winky’ hydrangea?

(Answer)

Paniculata hydrangeas such as ‘Pinky Winky’ are most commonly propagated by softwood cuttings, early in summer before the stems become too woody. As it’s August now, you might wait till next year to take the cuttings. Or, you can try using hardwood cuttings, which you can take this winter, but they are more difficult to root.
