You have posed some interesting questions.

When making a garden which soil brand do you recommend most?

If one is making a garden, the first choice is to use the soil that is actually where one wants to make a garden. In order to determine the quality of one’s soil, one must understand what soil is. Here is some information about soil.  Soils often need amendments (additions) to meet the requirements of the plants one wants to grow; it is important to continually add nutrients to garden soil by amending one’s soil with organic materials such as compost and shredded leaves. Here is information about compost.

What is your climate zone?

Toronto is considered to be in Zone 6a. If you would like to know more about the climate zones in Canada, please see here.

Which season is the best season to start planting?

Spring is the best season to plant vegetables and perennials–the length of the days and the warmer temperatures are essential conditions for plants to grow. Plants generally grow between the spring and fall ‘frost-free dates’; in Toronto the spring frost-free dates (temperature above 0’C) are generally between May 11 & 20; in the fall, the first frost day is usually between November 1 & 11. In Toronto, one can also plant perennials and trees during the fall (September/October).
