Rose of Sharon Pruning

(Question)

My rose of Sharon is about 15 feet tall and was planted within 4 feet of my house wall. This fall when it was loaded with blooms it fell out from the wall and now the leaves are all wilting and the blooming has stopped. Can I save the tree? Can it be pruned at this time of year. I live in Mid town Toronto.

It sounds like your Rose of Sharon could use a good pruning and… now is the optimal time to do some pruning on your tree.  The key is to prune it late fall, winter or very early in the spring before it sets its flower buds.   A great resource is :

Good luck with your Rose of Sharon.  Hopefully a good pruning job will ensure you can enjoy it for years to come.
